you know me

the yunomi show is up at AKAR!
Yunomi: A form of tea bowl, usually being taller than wide, with a trimmed or turned foot unlike the formal chawan tea bowl; which is used during the Japanese tea ceremony, the yunomi tea bowl is made for daily (or informal) tea drinking.

here are my 5 yunomi for the show.

lookie lookie - one of my yunomi in a preview shot!

some of the proceeds are donated to The Studio Potter as well, so what are you waiting for....check them out! there's only a little over 900 to see!

MAYCO interview

lisa culp from Mayco interviewed me after we met at the Potters Council Surface + Form conference.

lisa's foreword in "The Mud Room" Mayco march newsletter:
I met this energetic and extremely fun lady in January. She is one of those artists who I knew I was going to like as soon as I saw her work. She likes Mayco Underglaze and French Bulldogs. My kinda girl......

Meredith was kind enough to share some of her thoughts about surface, process and place with me. Enjoy the interview!

a description of the exibition:
The Dining Room Project considers our multifaceted relationship with food and intersections of food and art. With this expansive project, the dining room serves as a platform for the exploration of such issues as hunger, sustenance, consumption, taste, public health, sustainability, cultural symbolism and rituals within various traditions, and food and the meal’s usefulness as vehicle for communication, creative expression, and activism.

Potters Council: Surface & Form RECAP!

holy moly! where did the month of february go?

when i got back from the Potters Council Surface + Form Conference, i hit the ground running....and it's been nonstop! FINALLY, i present a couple of pics from the workshop.

i demo'd using paper stenciling and thermofax screen printing with underglazes, as well as using iron oxide decals.
the last part of the workshop was hand's on where the attendees were able to play around with applying vintage decals and versa color china paints.
all in all it was a fabulous weekend and i met some rad people. a big thanks to everyone at the Potters Council and Funke Fired Arts!
